PROVERBS

1.          Touch pitch and you will be defiled.
2.          Possession is nine points of the Law.
3.          A little pot is soon hot.
4.          It is a long lane that has no ending.
5.          A good name is better then a golden girdle.
6.          He who hunts two hares leaves one and use the other.

7.          The belly has no ears.
8.          Old birds are not to be caught with chaff.
9.          You can not burn the candle at both ends.
10.        Care killed that cat.
11.        When the cat is away the mice play.
12.        Don't count your chickens before they are hatched.
13.        A blind man is no judge of colours.
14.        Well begun is half done.
15.        Out of the frying pan into the fire.
16.        Pride hath a fall.
17.        It is no crying over spilt milk.

18.        Necessity is the mother of invention.
19.        Hope sustains life.
20.        Every cock fight best at his own dung-hill.
21.        Evil begets evil.
22.        Blood is thicker than water.
23.        Pen is mightier than the sword.
24.        One swallow does not make a summer.
25.        One a fool's errand.
26.        A figure among cyphers.
27.        A nod to the wise.
28.        Self help is the best help.
29.        To have an axe to grind.
30.        Self praise is no recommendation.
31.        To mind one's own business.

32.        Below one's own trumpet.
33.        No one worships the setting sun.
34.        Better alone than in a bad company.
35.        Every man has his price.
36.        Many hands make the burden light.
37.        The nearer the church the father from God.
38.        A contented mind is a continual feast.
39.        There is many a slip between the cup and the lip.
40.        Too much familiarity breeds contempt.
41.        Two of a trade seldom agree.
